Thanks to all who have been following this journey, I’m profoundly grateful to still be here and sharing the Colorado HIGH SKY one year later!

Sunrise over Bear Valley, taken with a DJI Mavic 3, taken 23 November 2025.
Sure, I may have been phoning it in the last few weeks since my visit to Georgetown. I hope you’ve enjoyed the photos at least half as much as I’ve enjoyed revisiting five years(!) of my collection of aerial photography.

A dark sky and cloudy sunrise over Fort Logan National Cemetery in South Denver.
Although I haven’t any specific issue with traveling solo and photographing the Colorado HIGH SKY, I would prefer the “buddy system” or some such for traveling.

The skyscrapers of downtown, as seen from Bear Valley.
Even here in town, being a solo adventurer of sorts could seem fraught. I know I’ve been very lucky, although I’ve never experienced any issues.

I also have many years worth of photography to share, so I think I’ll keep doing that. I’ve visited a few local landmarks worth visiting. For my part, I’ve been staying close to home—like this photo essay shows—and I don’t want to keep repeating the same views of the Colorado HIGH SKY!

Mount Blue Sky behind Mount Falcon and the Hogback.
Of course, Alpenglow is always a nice sight! Peeking from behind Mount Falcon, a rosy Mount Blue Sky calls—a “beckoning,” I would love to heed—without a “reckoning,” please. I’ve often shared what I call a view of “my tiny world” and that is a true representation of what it feels like.

A 360° panorama from over Bear Valley.
But there’s so much to see out beyond the tiny world! The colors of the sunrise call to me, and I’ve recently visited both Chatfield and Cherry Creek State Parks to keep up my flight logs. I also recently validated my remote pilot certification, since it’s only a free online knowledge test that’s required every two years.

Colors before the sunrise permeate this panorama.
I’ve recently joined some online groups to connect with others. But, I haven’t purchased a new drone, as DJI has released three, ground-breaking, new models, covering a range of classifications—none of which are for sale in the US! Next month, a “ban” of some sort is supposed to go into effect against DJI, prohibiting federal gov’t from using any drone from that manufacturer, from what I have read.

Colors over Denver before sunrise.
Instead of riding off into the sunset, Colorado HIGH SKY is heading back into the sunrise of days gone before. Thanks, as always, for reading all the way to the end—and many happy returns!
